First Baha Attract Implanted in CSRA
Recently, Dr Alan Johnson, MD, MPH, implanted an Augusta ENT patient with the area’s first Baha 4 Attract Magnetic Bone Conducting Hearing Device. It was only the second one in the state of Georgia. The Attract uses an invisible magnet implanted just under the skin behind the ear to provide sound energy directly to the inner ear, bypassing any damaged or missing eardrum or middle ear components. The Attract is the newest member of the Baha family of products, joining the very successful direct-coupled Baha 4 which uses a mechanical snap fitting. The Baha system is for patients who are unable to wear conventional hearing aids due to various reasons. Baha is manufactured by the Cochlear Corporation, the worlds largest provider of implantable hearing solutions.
